The mission of the Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) of Contra Costa is to promote the safety of children and prevent child abuse and neglect in Contra Costa County by raising awareness, influencing public policy, educating our community and providing resources and support programs to families. The Child Abuse Prevention Council incorporated in 1985 and since that time has evolved into a culturally appropriate, comprehensive child abuse prevention agency serving Contra Costa County. Last year the Child Abuse Prevention Council’s services reached 49,013 children and adults.

Adopt A Family Bike program serves low-income, underprivileged, and homeless individuals and families located primarily in Contra Costa County. The program has expanded, based on requests, to include a few organizations in Alameda and San Francisco Counties.

Our mission is to provide used bicycles, that are operational and safety-checked, to individuals in need. The bicycles encourage exercise & recreation and is a free form of transportation for adults and children alike. In addition to the bikes, we provide helmets to most recipients and locks for recipients who live in areas where the risk of property loss is high.

Loaves and Fishes addresses the issue of hunger. Contra Costa County has lower income neighborhoods especially along the Highway 4 corridor where the LFCC dining rooms are located (Pittsburg, Martinez, Antioch, Bay Point and Oakley). Our clients are not just homeless and the unemployed, many are very low to low income residents who are trying to make ends meet living in Contra Costa County. The mission of Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa is to provide community-based food programs and partner services that focus on basic needs. We nourish lives!
